On behalf of the Spinsters of San Francisco, I am so pleased by your interest in our organization and our charity involvement in the Bay Area.
Spinsters of San Francisco is a local organization founded in 1929 and comprised of college-educated, professional young women living in the Bay Area. Built on a strong foundation of community service, we provide social and philanthropic opportunities to our 175 members to assist local organizations benefiting our community. Our membership selects a local charity organization to sponsor in September of each year and supports them through volunteer service and charitable donations. Spinsters of SF can elect to renew sponsorship with a sponsored charity two times for a total of three years.
Spinsters of San Francisco is proud to sponsor City of Dreams, a mentorship and youth development program for youth living in low income housing in the Bayview/Hunter’s Point District, for a third and final year. In September of 2011 we will be selecting a new organization to sponsor. We welcome any and all applicants for charity service consideration for the 2011-2012 year. Please see the Charity Application Packet regarding
our charity selection process as well as an application to be considered. Applications for the 2011-2012 year are due May 1, 2011. Past selected organizations have ranged broadly in community service missions. From assisting the homeless to mentoring at-risk youth, Spinsters of San Francisco have supported a variety of service programs targeted to Bay Area needs.
While we dedicate our fundraising efforts to one particular organization per year, we are interested in participating in other local charity events. If you have an opportunity you’d like us to share with our group, please send a completed one-time Volunteer Request Form to charity@sfspinsters.com along with information about your organization.
We regret we can’t guarantee participation with every opportunity, however we will do our best to communicate charity outreach opportunities to our members, with details on how they can get involved.
